Start Anywhere On The Track

Hold down Shift and Option and click on a position before the race
starts. However this starts you off at '-1' laps.

Get Extra Boost

In mid-air, when you jump and if your front wheel is higher than your
back, then rapidly downshift into first gear.
Keep the throttle up
Now if you hit the ground with enough speed, you will get an instant
boost. When you get the boost you will fly in air for a lap and a half
or so depending on the jump you hit.
Make sure when you land your back tire hits the ground first. The
terrain has to be really even, no bumps or ruts, in order for the tire
not to hop, if it hops you will not get the boost.
